Date: Wednesday, 27 July, 2016
Start time: 19:30 UK
Fenerbahce hosts Monaco in a game first leg from the 3rd round of qualifying for the Champions League.
Preview:
Fenerbahce finished on second in the Turkish Super League finished with five points less than champions Besiktas. Vitor Pereira’s team will have to go through qualifying to the Champions League if it wants to participate in the group stage, where it is part of the 2008/09 season. Fenerbahçe lost some good players this summer as Raul Meireles (free), Bruno Alves (Cagliari), Erkin (Inter Milan), Nani (Valencia) and Diego (Flamengo), but he recovered Van der Wiel (PSG), Skrtel ( Liverpool), Neustädter (Schalke 04) or the goalkeeper Fabiano (Porto).
Third in Ligue 1 last season behind PSG and Lyon, the club from the Principality also begins his participation in the 3rd round. Monaco signed with two experienced players – Sidibe (LOSC) and B.Mendy (OM), and recovered the scorer Falcao (Chelsea) and Germain (Nice). Also, the Polish defender Glik was by from Torino, veteran goalkeeper De Sanctis (Roma) or the Portuguese Miguel Veloso. Fabio Coentrao (Real Madrid), Pasalic (Chelsea), Wallace (Braga) L.Traoré (Russia), Toulalan (Bordeaux) and Helder Costa (Benfica) all left the team. For this meeting, Leonardo Jardim will be without first-choice goalkeeper Subasic (injured), Moutinho (vacation) and Vagner Love (absent).
Betting Prediction:
Monaco did an excellent job last season in the Champions League and gained a lot of experience in tournament battles. I expect them to do well in the first leg in Istanbul and go as undefeated.
