Clemson is having a tough time trying to live without Trevor Lawrence. They already lost 2 of their first 5 games and are unranked for the first time in many years. There is simply something wrong with their offense as the Tigers can’t score much. They are 216th in the country in points scored with 21.2 points per game. The defense continues to be great, allowing just 12.2 points but it can’t carry the offense to wins every time.
On the other side, we have Syracuse who does not have any trouble scoring points. The Orange score 31.5 points per game while allowing 24 points. Their rushing game is really great, being led by RB Sean Tucker and QB Garrett Shrader. Shrader is not the typical pocket passer and likes to run with the football. Syracuse also likes to use junior QB Tommy DeVito in their 2-QB system.
I doubt Syracuse will be able to score a lot of points here, even though they will play at home. I also don’t think Clemson will score a lot on the road even against a below-average defense. The Orange are just not capable of scoring much.
