Ball State was dismantled by Ohio last week losing by 52-14. Ohio went for the monstrous 411 rushing yards and 554 in total against a defense that couldn’t do anything to stop the run. The Cardinals rushed for just 80 yards on 23 carries which results in an average of 3.5 yards per carry. Their starting quarterback was substituted due to injury but his replacement didn’t do well at all.
Mitch Guadagni suffered an injury in the 51-24 victory Toledo recorded against Western Michigan. They have had quarterback issues since the start of the season and they are going back and forth with their selections. Both Guadagni and Peters are inconsistent and sometimes we see glimpses of real talent from them while at other times we can’t recognize them.
Given the fact that Ball State couldn’t stop the run against Ohio, I think that even though Toledo’s quarterbacks are shaky, the Rockets will be able to run the football at will for big gains. Ball State’s offense still hasn’t found their rhythm yet and it is the 10th week of the season.
