Game: Aston Villa – Arsenal
Date: 12 January, Monday, 2014 year
Start time: 20:00 GMT
Aston Villa will face Arsenal in game from the twenty-first round of Premiership. Before this match, Aston Villa is on 11th position in the stantings with 23 points, while “The Gunners” are on 3th position with 45 point, two points behind leaders Chelsea.
It is Aston Villa’s supporters who are now running out of patience, particularly after the FA Cup defeat to Sheffield United.
Benteke is unlikely to come to Villa’s aid either, the out-of-form Belgian has not found the net since mid-September. Arsenal are not without their own attacking problems though, Theo Walcott’s injury will rule him out for the rest of the season, and Arsene Wenger is already stretched for attacking options. Responsibility will fall to the likes of Lukas Podolski, who marked his return from injury with a classy finish and assist on Boxing Day.
The last time Arsène Wenger visited Villa Park he endured chants of “you don’t know what you’re doing” from his own supporters. Now the Arsenal manager has a genuine chance of delivering a first league title since 2004, though they could be removed from the top by 8pm on Monday night.
Villa have lost four of their last six league games and are not in the greatest of form, so an Arsenal team which is full of confidence will feel that they have the edge going into the game. With Theo Walcott scoring five out of Arsenal’s last nine goals, other players will have to step up for the Gunners to ensure victory. Villa fans will be hopeful of a return to form for Benteke sooner rather than later, and this could be the perfect game for such a return. With all taken into account, I predict a win for Arsenal.
