The Anaheim Ducks started the season surprisingly well with 3 consecutive wins but then they lost Arizona and Dallas. The Dallas loss was very frustrating because they were leading by 3-0 in the early stages of the second period and then they allowed 5 goals, 4 of which came in the second period. John Gibson allowed just 6 goals in his first 4 starts but his performance dropped at Dallas. The Ducks are 29th in the league in shots allowed and that doesn’t sound good for their defense.
The St. Louis Blues started the season with hopes of playing in the postseason after they missed on it last year thanks to losing 5 of their last 6 regular season games. However, things don’t look good this year as they have started with a record of 1-3 and they can be very unhappy about their last outing in Chicago where they had the lead in the 3rd period but the Blackhawks tied the game with 6 minutes left and then won in overtime.
Both teams are struggling at the moment and both are conceding many plays in front of their own goalies. However, I believe that the magic is over for John Gibson and he will start conceding goals on a regular basis like we all expected and that will start on Sunday against the Blues.
