Match: Steve Johnson vs. Evgeny Donskoy Preview, Predictions and Betting Tips
Date: Tuesday, 30 August, 2016
For the first time in his career, Steve Johnson will be the top seed American player in a Grand Slam.
The fact that this is his home Grand Slam makes this even more special for Steve. 22-year old American is playing amazing tennis in last 3 months, he won his first ATP title this year in Nottingham (on grass). Recently he also reached semi-finals at ATP500 Washington Citi Open, quarterfinal at the Olympics where he made an amazing effort against the champion Andy Murray but he lost with a tiebreak in the 3rd set. He also reached quarter-final in Cincinnati Open which he lost in straight sets against Grigor Dimitrov.
This was his first Masters 1000 quarter-final so we can definitely say that he is playing his best tennis right now. Unfortunately for him, he will possibly play against Del Potro in the 2nd round of US Open. Evgeny Donskoy seems like a good match-up for Johnson. They met each other in the 1st round of the Olympics and Steve won 6:1 6:1. The Russian plays mostly on Challengers where he won 2 titles this year but we all know that ATP tournaments and especially Grand Slams are something totally different. This looks to me like straight sets win for Johnson.
