Match: Juan Martin del Potro vs. David Ferrer Preview, Predictions and Betting Tips
Date: Saturday, 03 September, 2016
One of the biggest favorites here in New York Juan Martin del Potro will meet one of his worst match-ups in the four, David Ferrer.
The Spaniard leads the h2h 6-3 but their last meeting was in 2013. Del Potro is playing his best tennis since 2009 when he reached world number 4. After his impressive run in Rio, he started at the US Open with a routine straight-sets win against his compatriot Diego Schwartzman despite making too many errors.
But in the 2nd round, he defeated the top American seed and world number 22 Steve Johnson in 3 sets which was absolutely amazing considering the great form Johnson finds himself too. But Del Potro is just on fire right now and is the big favorite against Ferrer. The Spaniard managed to overcome Fabio Fognini in 5 sets after making a comeback from 1-2 to 3-2.
Ferrer showed us once again what an incredible fighter on the court he is. He will definitely give his best against Delpo but I don’t think that it will be enough because in my opinion only 4 or 5 players can stop the Argentinean right now and Ferrer isn’t amongst them. In my opinion, the best Ferrer can get from this match is winning 1 set.
